Vol. 548 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

162 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a ewe premium scheme payment was not made to a person (details supplied) in County Galway in respect of ten ewes for 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5682/02]

The person named did not apply for the year 2000 ewe premium scheme. The person named held a ewe quota of 48 premium rights but it was returned to the national reserve in 2000 because it had not been used in 2000 or in the previous three years. However, I have arranged to have ten premium rights restored to the person named to enable payment of the 2001 and 2002 ewe premium on the ten eligible ewes applied for in those years. The person named may apply for an allocation of ewe quota from the 2003 national reserve and I have arranged to have an application form sent to her when the forms become available in July next.
