196 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Finance if planning permission has been obtained for the new Garda station in Ballina, County Mayo; if the contract for the project has been awarded; if so, the successful tenderer and the contract price of same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister of State at the Department of Finance (Mr. Cullen):

The Commissioners of Public Works are in the process of acquiring a site for the proposed Garda station. They expect the sale to be closed by July 2002. Planning and design of the new Garda station will commence shortly.
