Vol. 548 No. 5

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

283 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Health and Children if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 236 of 12 February 2002, his Department has made an agreement with the Eastern Regional Health Authority; the plans to come to an agreement with the Eastern Regional Health Authority for funding of contract beds at the new Alzheimer's care facility at Highfield, Swords Road, Whitehall; the number of beds involved; the timescale involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5654/02]

Responsibility for the provision of health services in Dublin rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive officer of the authority to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply to her directly.

Michael Creed

Question:

284 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Health and Children the proposals his Department has in respect of the provision of GI function unit, pH and manometry studies, at various regional centres around the country; and the proposals to provide this facility in the Southern Health Board area. [5655/02]

At present my Department does not have specific proposals in relation to the provision of GI function units, pH and manometry services on a regional basis. The local development of these services is a matter for individual health agencies. Therefore, my Department has asked the chief executive officer of the Southern Health Board to reply directly to the Deputy in relation the services available in the board area.
