Vol. 548 No. 5

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

325 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 428 of 1 May 2001, his Department has provided funding to Wexford City Council specifically for replacement of the external finish on phases 1,2 and 3 of the Talbot Green Housing Estate, Wexford town; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5474/02]

Some €787,238 has been paid to Wexford Borough Council under my Department's remedial works scheme in respect of refurbishment works at this estate which were completed in 1996. Proposals for the replacement of the external finish on phases 1, 2 and 3 of the project were put forward by the borough council in 2001. Clarification as to the estimated cost and number of houses involved in their proposal was requested from the local authority in May 2001. The matter will receive further consideration on receipt of this information.
