Vol. 548 No. 5

Written Answers. - Animals Act.

Willie Penrose

Question:

396 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if statutory instruments or regulations have been made pursuant to the Animals Act, 1985; if so, if he will give details in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5821/02]

The only statutory instrument made under the Animals Act, 1985 was the Animals Act, 1985 (Commencement) Order, 1985, – S.I. No. 305 of 1985 – which brought the Act into operation on 20 September 1985. Section 5(3) of the Act provides for making regulations in relation to animals impounded otherwise than under the Pounds (Provision and Maintenance) Act, 1935. No regulations have been made under section 5(3).
