Vol. 548 No. 5

Written Answers. - Youth Services.

Michael Creed

Question:

411 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has received a youth work development plan proposal from the national youth work advisory committee; and the next step regarding implementation of these proposals. [5313/02]

My colleague, Deputy O'Dea, the Minister with responsibility for youth affairs, intends to meet with the chairperson of the national youth work advisory committee tomorrow, Wednesday, 20 February 2002, and expects that the plan will be presented to him then. Following its consideration, it is the intention of the Minister of State, Deputy O'Dea, to circulate the plan to the various interest groups.

The implementation of this proposed plan will then be considered in the light of their comments. It is expected that the proposals contained in this plan, together with the Youth Work Act, 2001, will provide for a fully co-ordinated, integrated, effective, value-for-money service to young people in Ireland.
