Brian Hayes

Question:

457 Mr. B. Hayes asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will confirm that, since the meeting between his Department, Tallaght IT and the Chief State Solicitors office on 10 December 2001, no lease has been forwarded to Tallaght IT in respect of making final arrangements for the Dublin West Education Centre on the grounds of the college, that the building in question has been completed since 8 May 2001, and has not been occupied in view of the dispute on the lease in question; when this lease will be submitted to Tallaght IT; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5709/02]

Tallaght IT is the lessor in relation to the lands currently under consideration of the proposed lease to which the Deputy refers. Therefore, the Deputy will appreciate that it is the responsibility of Tallaght IT's legal advisors to draft the lease in question. I have been informed that a lease has been forwarded to Tallaght IT in respect of making final arrangements for Dublin West Education Centre on the grounds of the college. My understanding is that Tallaght IT has received the draft lease and has requested some further minor adjustments to it. Following receipt of the revised lease, my Department expects to be in a position to finalise the lease and admission to the centre will be commenced as soon as possible thereafter.
