Vol. 548 No. 5

Written Answers. - Pension Provisions.

Ivor Callely

Question:

80 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Finance the mechanism in place to ensure equality in the pension arrangements for employees of State and semi-State organisations; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5465/02]

While pension schemes for State and semi-State organisations normally require the approval of the Minister with direct responsibility for the organisation and the consent of the Minister for Finance, each individual organisation has the primary responsibility for the establishment and administration of its own schemes. My main objective in this area is to ensure that the terms of the schemes do not exceed public sector norms as set out in the model superannuation schemes which are available to organisations on request.
