Vol. 548 No. 5

Written Answers. - Non-Governmental Organisations.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

114 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the payments made by her Department from 1997 to date to environmental non-governmental organisations detailing the nature and extent of the projects; the amount and dates of their payments excluding multi-stakeholder bodies; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [5628/02]

Payments of €444 and €3,809 were made by my Department on 21 April and 26 June 1998 to Earthwatch in respect of a conference and climate change research.

In addition, the Irish Energy Centre, under the aegis of my Department, made a payment of €3,327 in 1998 to Sonairte, the national ecology centre, to assist it in the completion of its renewable energy park. The Irish Energy Centre also gives Sonairte an annual sponsorship of €508 to attend and represent the interests of the centre at the education show for teachers.
