Written Answers. - Electricity Generation.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

187 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will provide copies of documentation held by his Department relating to the public service obligation for Lanesborough and Shannonbridge peat fired power plants; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6004/02]

I refer to the reply of the Minister for Public Enterprise to Question No. 129 on today's Order Paper.

My Department has assisted the Department of Public Enterprise in the development of policy and legislation in relation to public service obligation for the electricity sector, and is a statutory consultee in relation to the making of any order by the Minister for Public Enterprise under section 39 of the Electricity Regulation Act, 1999.

I understand that most documentation arising from the above would be contained in the documents and records referred to in the reply to Question No. 129 on today's Order Paper. To the extent that the documentation sought is not included in any material released, in accordance with the above reply, by the Department of Public Enterprise, my Department will arrange for its subsequent transmission to the Deputy, subject to the documents being released or releasable under the Freedom of Information Act, 1997.
