Vol. 549 No. 1

Written Answers. - Naturalisation Certificates.

John McGuinness

Question:

204 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will expedite an appeal for naturalisation for persons (details supplied) in County Kilkenny. [5927/02]

The persons referred to in the Deputy's question applied for certificates of naturalisation in December 1996. In November 1998 I decided to refuse certificates of naturalisation in both instances and the applicants were informed of this decision in writing.

The Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act does not provide for an appeal against my decision on an application for a certificate of naturalisation. If the persons involved wish to make fresh applications at this stage, these will be processed in accordance with the provisions of the aforementioned Act.
