Vol. 549 No. 2

Written Answers. - Missing Persons.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

159 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the total number of persons officially listed as missing here; the average number of such persons who are ultimately found on an annual basis; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6232/02]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the total number of persons listed as missing persons and the number of such persons subsequently traced are recorded on an annual basis. Such figures for each year from 1990-2000 are as listed in the following table. Figures for 2001 and this year to date are not readily available as they are currently being compiled.
