Vol. 549 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tax Rebates.

John V. Farrelly

Question:

192 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Finance the reason a person (details supplied) in County Meath is not entitled to a refund on his tax payment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6683/02]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspector of taxes does not have enough information to determine whether the taxpayer is due a tax refund. The inspector has written to the taxpayer requesting his P60 for the 2001 tax year. When the inspector receives the taxpayer's P60, she will review his tax liability for the year and refund any tax overpaid.

The inspector does not have any information about the taxpayer's income or the amount of tax, if any, he has paid in the current tax year, i.e. since 1 January 2002.
