Written Answers. - Spinal Injuries Action Association.

Olivia Mitchell

Question:

199 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the fact that due to lack of funding, the Spinal Injuries Action Association, including its training and work experience programme, must cease operation; and the action he proposes to take in this regard. [6908/02]

Seán Barrett

Question:

219 Mr. Barrett asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the Spinal Injuries Action Association will have to cease its work in July 2002 unless State funding is restored immediately; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6409/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 199 and 219 together.

The provision of funding to the Spinal Injuries Action Association, which operates out of the National Rehabilitation Hospital, Dún Laoghaire, is a matter for the Eastern Regional Health Authority in the first instance. Accordingly, the Deputies' questions have been referred to the regional chief executive of the Eastern Regional Health Authority with a request that he examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputies as a matter of urgency.
