Vol. 549 No. 3

Written Answers. - Abortion Referendum.

David Stanton

Question:

297 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the reason he decided against weekend voting regarding the forthcoming referendum; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6655/02]

All relevant factors were taken into account in the decision to appoint 6 March 2002 as polling day for the forthcoming referendum and there were no particular reasons to consider that a weekend poll would result in a higher turnout.
