Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Tony Killeen

Question:

302 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the progress which has been made on Clare County Council's proposals to his Department for a sewerage scheme at Carrigaholt, County Clare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6783/02]

This scheme has been approved to advance through planning in my Department's water services investment programme, 2000-02, as a grouped reedbed project that also involves Labasheeda and Cooraclare. I approved Clare County Council's brief for the appointment of consultants to prepare a preliminary report for the project in January 2001 and the submission of the report by the council is now awaited.

Question:

304 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position regarding the Quilty-Mullagh sewerage scheme; when work is expected to commence; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6785/02]

This scheme is approved for construction under my Department's water services investment programme, 2000-02. I approved the preliminary report for the scheme in November 2000. My Department is currently awaiting the submission by Clare County Council of a revised brief for the appointment of a client's representative for the wastewater treatment works, which will be procured as a design-build-operate contract in conjunction with Feakle and Scariff sewerage schemes, and for the appointment of consultants for the sewerage systems.
