Question:423 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Education and Science when the public sworn inquiry dealing with the suspension of the director of the institute of technology, Tralee, County Kerry will take place. [6557/02]

The director of the institute of technology, Tralee initiated legal proceedings following his suspension to allow for the holding of an inquiry into aspects of his performance as director. Among the reliefs being sought by the Director is a stay on his suspension and on the inquiry. My Department has been advised by the Attorney General's office that, pending the resolution of those proceedings, it would not be appropriate for the inquiry to proceed.
