104 Mr. Stagg asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if a person who has a work permit must return to her country of origin prior to seeking a renewal or extension of the work permit by her employer; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6672/02]

Where an employer has a valid work permit issued by my Department and applies for a renewal, I am not aware of any circumstances in which the employee would be required to return to his or her country of origin.
