Ballyconnell national school is currently in receipt of the services of a learning support teacher on a shared basis.

Question:

295 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Education and Science the position regarding a person (details supplied) in County Carlow who is dyslexic but not receiving tuition from a resource teacher in school; when this person will receive tuition; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6925/02]

My Department considered an appeal for resource teaching support for the pupil in question in November 2001. The pupil exceeded the literacy and mathematics criteria for specific learning difficulty and consequently resource teaching support was not provided.
