310 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Education and Science the proposed statutory instruments being prepared in, or under the auspices of, his Department; the proposed effect of each; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7193/02]
My Department is engaged in the preparation of a number of statutory instruments arising from recently enacted education legislation. Commencement orders are being drafted for provisions of the Education (Welfare) Act, 2000, the Youth Work Act, 2001 and the Vocational Education (Amendment) Act, 2001. Orders are also being prepared for the purpose of establishing the National Special Education Council and the National Adult Literacy Council under section 54 of the Education Act, 1998. In addition an order is being prepared for the transposition of Directive 2000/5/EC into national law under the European Communities Act, 1972, amending Council Directive 92/51/EEC on a second general system for the recognition of education and training to supplement Council 89/48/EEC.
