34 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if she will consider bringing forward the promised review of the RTE licence fee application, in view of the serious problems facing the station; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6804/02]
When the Government approved my proposal for the interim television licence fee increase last July it agreed that it would consider a further increase in the licence fee from 1 April 2003, subject to prior independent verification that certain conditions had been met. If the conditions to be complied with are met earlier I will be prepared to reconsider the matter.
