Vol. 549 No. 4

Written Answers. - Industrial Relations.

Charles Flanagan

Question:

60 Mr. Flanagan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if her attention has been drawn to a report by the Labour Relations Commission suggesting the setting up of a forum to co-ordinate the activities of industrial relations agencies; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7027/02]

I am pleased that the Labour Relations Commission, in its recently published strategy framework, is seeking to work with the various agencies concerned with different aspects of industrial relations in Ireland. During the consultation process which preceded the publication of the strategy, there were some suggestions that there should be a high level national forum where the commission and other interested parties could discuss current and emerging issues. The commission, having examined the matter, is now proposing to host an annual informal meeting of the various agencies to discuss matters of mutual concern.
