Vol. 550 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Investigations.

Tony Gregory

Question:

164 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if, further to his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 11 of 21 February 2002, he will appoint a member of the Judiciary to examine all documentation relating to the case of a person (details supplied) including the internal inquiries carried out by the assistant commissioner to establish if there is sufficient evidence to warrant the establishment of a public inquiry into the case. [7273/02]

As I stated in my reply to Parliamentary Question Number 11 of 21 February 2002, I do not believe that I have evidence which would warrant the establishment of a public inquiry into this case. In view of the circumstances of this case as outlined in that reply, I do not consider that there is evidence to warrant any further investigation into this matter.
