John Browne

Question:

23 Mr. Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny) asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government his plans to raise the age of 17 as the age for obtaining a driving licence to drive a car. [4134/02]

The minimum age of 17 years at which a person may hold a category B provisional licence or a driving licence to drive a car is in accordance with the harmonised EU regime for driver licensing, and it is not proposed to amend it.
