Vol. 550 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Gerry Reynolds

Question:

73 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim will be paid the outstanding amounts of suckler cow and special beef premium. [7240/02]

The person named applied for premium for 29 animals under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme. An advance payment for 27 animals issued on 16 November 2001. In processing the application for payment a number of checks are carried out against the CMMS database records. It was found that animal tag number NEA971897 was not on the applicant's herd profile and there was no record of the animal being moved onto his holding. Further clarification was required regarding movement details for this animal and the applicant was advised to contact the mart regarding this matter. A problem also arose regarding animal tag number POA637114, which was not registered with SWS Bandon and this matter, has since been resolved. Issue of balancing payments commenced on 31 January 2002.

A re-examination of the application showed that three animals, tag numbers UEA411415, UIA158457 and UIA740635, were disposed of before the end of the six months retention period and were not replaced in accordance with the terms and conditions of the scheme. The herdowner has been contacted regarding this matter and his application will be processed further on receipt of his reply.

The person named submitted a special beef premium application in respect of seven animals on 12 June 2001. The 80% advance payment in respect of four animals issued on 31 October 2001. Payment will issue in respect of the remaining three animals when details of the movement of these animals have been input onto the cattle movement monitoring system, CMMS.
