Vol. 550 No. 1

Written Answers. - Mental Health Services.

John McGuinness

Question:

96 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the type of care and treatment which was given to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny by St. Canice's Hospital prior to this person's death; the support and care which was given to this person following his release from the hospital; when the person was last seen by the hospital and by whom; the last date the person was seen by representatives of the hospital while he lived in the local community; the support which was available to this person as an outpatient; if the hospital was proactive in the delivery of this service; and the number of patients of St. Canice's Hospital who have died prematurely in the past five years. [7319/02]

Responsibility for the provision of care and treatment in St. Canice's Hospital rests with the South Eastern Health Board. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive officer to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply to him directly.
