154 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a decision will be made by the European Commission regarding proposals which he has submitted on the area based compensatory allowance scheme and its inequities; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development (Mr. Walsh):

Proposals for a revised scheme of compensatory allowances in disadvantaged areas are awaiting the approval of the European Commission. Any additional payments will issue as soon as the proposal is approved.
