Bernard Allen

Question:

163 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reasons a payment of more than ?5,000 is not being made to a person (details supplied) in County Cork under the suckler cow scheme; and if payment can be made without further delay. [7629/02]

The person named applied for premium for 25 animals under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme. At an inspection of his herd on 5 September 2001 it was found that one animal was an incorrect breed, one animal had lost both ear tags, one animal was not registered with SWS, Bandon and two animals described as cows had not calved. The applicant was informed that as these animals were not compliant with the terms and conditions of the scheme they would be rejected from his application with a resultant penalty. The herdowner also failed on the day of inspection to present the bovine herd register for inspection. The person named has requested that his case be reviewed. An appointment has been arranged for him to produce his bovine herd register for inspection this week to the district livestock inspector. He will be informed of the outcome of the review as soon as possible.
