Question:224 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Finance when the Medical Council will be obliged to supply information for Freedom of Information Act requests; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7871/02]
Written Answers. - Freedom of Information.
While no final decision has been taken, I intend that the Medical Council will be included under the remit of the Freedom of Information Act in the context of the programme of extending the Freedom of Information Act. This programme is being done on a phased basis continuing up to end of 2005. I understand discussions involving the Department of Health and Children and the secretariat of the Medical Council have been initiated regarding such inclusion.
