505 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if staff have been appointed for the Cabra youth division project; when the project will be up and running in view of the urgent need in the area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8151/02]

Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform (Mr. O'Donoghue): I am pleased to announce the provision of funding for the Cabra Garda youth division project under the National Development Plan 2000-2006.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that interviews were recently held for the post of project co-ordinator and that the successful applicant was appointed on 18 February. I am assured that the project will be fully operational at local level in the near future.
