Vol. 550 No. 2

Written Answers. - Home-School Liaison Scheme.

Billy Timmins

Question:

552 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Education and Science the position regarding the appointment of a home liaison officer to a school (details supplied) in County Wicklow; when this appointment will be made; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7514/02]

All second level schools that are designated as disadvantaged have been invited to participate in home-school-community liaison scheme and have been allocated additional teaching resources to facilitate their participation.

The school referred to by the Deputy has not been designated as disadvantaged. There are no plans at present in my Department to designate further second level schools as disadvantaged. However, I assure the Deputy that the needs of the school in question will be considered in the context of any future review of the disadvantaged and home-school-community liaison schemes at second level.
