Question:

79 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the amount of capital expenditure on infrastructural projects by his Department in the Border, midlands and western region since its establishment to date; the projects funded; the amount of capital expenditure on infrastructural projects in the rest of the country in the same timeframe; and the projects funded. [7834/02]

The following table shows total capital investment in the Border, midlands and western and southern and eastern regions to the end of 2001 under those national development plan programmes which come within the responsibility of my Department.

My Department is at present rolling out the installation of a computerised reporting system, in accordance with the Government's decision of July 2001, which will provide in due course comprehensive details of NDP expenditure on a regional and county basis. I refer the Deputy to the following tables regarding the regional breakdown on a project basis of capital expenditure in 2000 and 2001 under the major NDP infrastructural programmes of fishery harbours and coast protection.
