Vol. 550 No. 2

Written Answers. - Departmental Funding.

Michael Moynihan

Question:

102 Mr. M. Moynihan asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the funding allocated each year from 1995 to 2001 by his Department for Cork North-West; the specific project investments; and the major developments which began or major service improvements which were funded as a result of an increase in funding in each of these years. [8063/02]

The Department of the Marine and Natural Resources in its present functional format was established in June 1997. Such information as can be provided to the Deputy refers only to the period 1997 to 2001.

It is not possible to provide a breakdown of all my Department's expenditure by project for Cork North-West or any other constituency basis in the period 1997 to 2001 as the information is not held in that format. In so far as those programmes under the National Development Plan 2000-2006, are concerned, my Department is at present rolling out the installation of a computerised reporting system, in accordance with the Government's decision of July 2001, which will provide in due course comprehensive details of NDP expenditure on a county basis.

Details are included of total capital expenditure for all areas in the years 1997 to 2001. The bulk of expenditure by my Department relates to initiatives and projects in coastal areas.
