Question:

375 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will provide additional funding to the Western Health Board for the in-home family support service run by the Brothers of Charity, Ballinasloe, County Galway, to retain the level of service provided in 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8647/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 374 and 375 together.

Additional funding amounting to €2.119 million was provided to the Western Health Board in 2002 to provide a range of services including residential, respite and day services for persons with an intellectual disability and those with autism. Decisions about the precise details of the services to be provided from any additional funding and the individuals who will benefit from those services are a matter for the relevant health boards, in this case the Western Health Board. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply to him directly.
