Vol. 550 No. 4

Written Answers. - Paediatric Services.

Bernard Allen

Question:

398 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will make a statement on recent comments by a person (details supplied) that the Council for Children's Hospital Care is achieving no useful purpose in its present format. [8873/02]

The primary role of the Council for Children's Hospitals Care is to assist the Dublin paediatric hospitals to work with each other and with the Eastern Regional Health Authority to plan and develop acute paediatric services on a co-ordinated basis in the functional area of the authority. The council recently submitted its interim report for September 1999 to September 2001 to my Department. All aspects of the report including the role of the council and its tenure are currently under consideration.
