Question:

429 Mr. C. Lenihan asked the Minister for Health and Children if, in view of the crisis at Tallaght Hospital two years ago, he has satisfied himself with the current state of services provided; if he has further satisfied himself that the hospital is now properly funded; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9102/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 428 and 429 together.

Responsibility for the funding of services at Tallaght Hospital rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has, therefore asked the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.

Question:

430 Mr. C. Lenihan asked the Minister for Health and Children the level of funding, including current and capital grants, allocated to Tallaght Hospital since 1997; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9103/02]

The total amount of revenue funding provided for Tallaght Hospital for the years 1997-2001 was €486.680 million, £383.289 million. The total amount of capital funding provided for the same period was €70.708 million, £55.687 million. The capital sum includes funding for information technology. The 2002 allocation by the Eastern Regional Health Authority to Tallaght Hospital is currently under discussion between the authority and the hospital.
