Vol. 550 No. 4

Written Answers. - Orthodontic Service.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

452 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Health and Children further to Parliamentary Question No. 154 of 6 February 2002 and in respect of the Northern Area Health Board, the number of assessments which have been arranged for patients on the orthodontic waiting list for 2002; the number of treatments which have been arranged for patients on the orthodontic treatment list for 2002; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9519/02]

Responsibility for the provision of orthodontic treatment to eligible persons is the responsibility of the health boards in the first instance.

The information requested by the Deputy in respect of the Northern Area Health Board of the Eastern Regional Health Authority is not routinely collected by my Department. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive officer of the authority to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and to reply to her directly.
