Vol. 550 No. 4

Written Answers. - Roads Projects.

Olivia Mitchell

Question:

498 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the plans his Department have to allocate moneys for the Mountain Top to Coolbuoy Post Office Road, Letterkenny, County Donegal for the year 2002. [9345/02]

Under the Roads Act 1993 the National Roads Authority (NRA) has overall responsibility for the planning and supervision of works for the construction and maintenance of national roads, including the route referred to in the question.

The NRA receives annually a block grant from my Department from which allocations are made to local authorities in relation to individual road projects, within the policy framework of the National Development Plan 2000-2006 and the associated Economic and Social Infrastructure Operational Programme. Accordingly, questions related to particular national road projects may be appropriately addressed to the NRA or the local road authority concerned.
