583 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when an application for naturalisation and citizenship will be processed for a person (detail supplied) in County Sligo; if a decision has been made; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8399/02]
An application for a certificate of naturalisation from the person referred to by the Deputy was submitted to my Department in August 2001.
The average processing time for an application for naturalisation is 15 months at present and it is therefore likely that the application of the person concerned will be finalised towards the end of this year.
As soon as I have reached a decision on the matter, both the applicant and the Deputy will be informed of the outcome.
