Vol. 550 No. 4

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Willie Penrose

Question:

628 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if a Section 49 application by a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath can be immediately dealt with; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9268/02]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49 (that is, acquisition of title by virtue of long possession) of the Registration Act, 1964, which was lodged on 15 August 2001. Dealing No. D2001XS007892C refers.

I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of claims for registration as owners, can take some time to process. Accordingly it is not possible to estimate a completion date at this stage. However, I assure the Deputy that the application is receiving attention in the Land Registry.
