Vol. 550 No. 4

Written Answers. - Psychological Service.

Jim Mitchell

Question:

796 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Education and Science in respect of a secondary school (details supplied) in Dublin 9, the number of children still awaiting psychological assessment; the reasons for the delay; his plans to eliminate the backlog and the timetable therefor; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8850/02]

The psychologist from the National Educational Psychological Service Agency who provides a service to this school has visited it on several occasions. The school authorities have not referred any students to her for assessment. If the school wishes to do so then the NEPS psychologist will be glad to discuss a schedule for carrying out any assessments that may be necessary.
