Vol. 550 No. 4

Written Answers. - Psychological Service.

Question:

861 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Education and Science if psychological support services can be assigned to a school (details supplied) in Dublin 10. [9248/02]

There are national schools and a secondary school in Dublin 10 with the name supplied by the Deputy. The National Educational Psychological Service Agency, NEPS, provides a psychological service to the national schools. I am deeply saddened to report that the psychologist assigned to the secondary school recently died. A replacement psychologist will be appointed as soon as possible from the recruitment competition that is currently nearing completion. Meanwhile, the school may avail of the scheme for commissioning psychological assessment, full details of which may be found on my Department's website. NEPS management will also deal with any urgent queries from the school.
