Vol. 550 No. 4

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Austin Deasy

Question:

89 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will provide two additional special needs assistants to St. John's Special School, Dungarvan, County Waterford in view of the fact that they only have two special needs assistants to cover four classes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9227/02]

The school to which the Deputy refers currently has the services of four special needs assistants. My Department's inspectorate is considering an application for additional special needs assistant support for the school. My Department will be in contact with the school authorities when this process has been completed.
