Written Answers. - Official Engagements.

Question:

100 Dr. Upton asked the Taoiseach the number of times he has met each of the First Ministers of Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales since 1 January 2001. [7557/02]

Since January 2001, I have met with the First Minister of Northern Ireland on four occasions and the First Ministers of Scotland and Wales twice. I met with the First Minister of Northern Ireland in February 2001, followed by our meeting at the Weston Park talks in July. I subsequently met all three First Ministers at the British-Irish Council and the First Minister of Northern Ireland at the North-South Ministerial Council meetings which were held in Dublin Castle on 30 November last. Although not formally, I also met with the First Minister for Northern Ireland in the course of my visit to the United States on 11 March.

I met with the First Minister of Scotland in June of last year when I visited Edinburgh and Glasgow and, in February of this year, I met the First Minister of Wales when he led a trade, investment and tourism mission to Ireland.
