Before the Order of Business I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 31 from Deputy Sargent. I call on the Deputy to state the matter.
Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.
I request that Dáil Éireann be adjourned to discuss the manner in which the Government is reportedly to make about 300 Government appointments to various semi-State boards, including top positions in the Environmental Protection Agency, before leaving office. This carry on is in conflict with the tired and discredited Government mantra of openness, transparency and accountability.
Having considered the matter fully, I do not consider it to be in accordance with Standing Order 31.
