Vol. 550 No. 5

Written Answers. - Personal Injury Claims.

Andrew Boylan

Question:

44 Mr. Boylan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment her views on exaggerated personal injury claims; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [9355/02]

We have no role in pursuing exaggerated personal injury claims – this is a matter for the courts and those against whom such claims are made. To the extent that exaggeration of personal injury claims occurs – and I have no authoritative information about the incidence of such exaggeration – it contributes to insurance costs and must be paid for in higher premiums for both businesses and consumers generally.
