Question:

87 Mr. McGrath asked the Taoiseach the estimated number of citizens over 100 years old in this State; and the expected number to become centenarians during 2002. [10136/02]

The 1996 census of population recorded a total of 277 persons as being aged 100 years and over. It is estimated that approximately 100 persons will become centenarians during 2002.
