Vol. 551 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Liam Aylward

Question:

192 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will clarify his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 76 of 21 February 2002, which states that the new computer system in the area aid unit of his Department has not led to serious delays in payment, when in fact applicants querying their payments are being clearly told by officials in that unit that the delay rests with the computer system; when payments were last made; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9867/02]

As I stated in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 76 of 21 February 2002, it is not correct to say that the new iMAP computer system has led to serious delays in payments. There were some delays in processing a relatively small number of 2001 cases. Since 21 March, more than 3,800 further payments totalling in excess of €6 million have been made under the various livestock schemes and the arable aid scheme.
