Vol. 551 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Creed

Question:

215 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork has not received payment in respect of a suckler grant. [10332/02]

The person named applied for premium for 15 cows and one heifer under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme for small scale milk suppliers. The milk quota held by the applicant at the 31 March 2001 is 25230 gallons and, when divided by the average milk yield of 876 gallons, it gives 28.80 to be the number of dairy cows required to produce this quota. The person named declared on the date of application that the total number of cows both dairy and suckler owned, possessed held and maintained on his holding, was 43. This leaves 14.20 surplus cows eligible for suckler cow premium plus one heifer. The application has been fully processed and payment based on 15.2 animals will issue within the next week.
