Vol. 551 No. 2

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

227 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Finance the position in relation to the decentralisation programme; the position which Inishowen currently holds in respect of any such programme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9837/02]

As the Deputy is aware, it has been decided that no decisions relating to a new programme of decentralisation will now be taken before the forthcoming election. However, work on a new programme is progressing in my Department which will enable decisions to be taken shortly after the formation of a new Government. As part of that work consideration will be given to the locations which will be included in the new programme and the Deputy can be assured that the case made for the inclusion of Inishowen will be fully considered in that regard.
